This classic 1924 model Wertheim 'Gold Scroll' piano was manufactured in Melbourne, Australia during the golden era of Australian piano manufacturing. In a time when quality labour in demand and high quality materials were used, this piano was hand-made and comprises a solid dark walnut cabinet, solid brass hardware including hinges, locks and even solid brass screws!
The cross-grained walnut cabinet was refurbished in our piano restoration workshop and all keys were removed, cleaned, re-aligned, lubricated and the keyboard completely levelled. The quality Wertheim action has been fully refurbished and the piano serviced, regulated (overall adjustment) and tuned to concert pitch.
Wertheim pianos comprise a full gold-plated iron frame, are fully overstrung (have a longer string length) and have a high quality timber constructed underdamper playing mechanism. Unlike the comparable sized new pianos now manufactured in Indonesia, the panels in this model are solid timber and the piano has metal reinforcement throughout making them an extremely robust instrument.
This Wertheim Gold Scroll was owned by a family in Fullarton for more than 60 years and had been handed down two generations. Unfortunately, the elderly owners were downsizing and had to part ways with their beloved piano. The piano comes with a beautiful hand-made piano stool and the original locking key.
Included in the price is professional insured delivery and installation, after delivery tuning, matching piano bench, 12 year warranty and the original key.
